Animal Emergency Service (AES) is on the lookout for a part-time Assistant Veterinary Nurse Manager.


The Job

The Assistant Veterinary Nurse Manager role is new to our practice and will be responsible for helping to expand the capabilities of our growing and passionate team of nurses. Working closely with our Veterinary Nurse Manager, you will assist with administration, training, and other human resource functions. This role will require rostered shifts on a variety of weekends, weekdays/nights, and public holidays to support our nursing team.

The main responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with mentoring and coaching our nurses on the floor in a clinical capacity.
  • Reviewing and creating company policies in a variety of areas.
  • Assisting with administrative functions such as roster co-ordination, team communication, organising nursing meetings and more.
  • Involvement in human resource functions such as training and development, recruitment and enhancing team culture.
  • Form part of the nursing leadership team to develop and implement team strategies and quarterly goals.

Job Requirements:

All About You

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a veterinary nurse post-qualification (preferably in emergency).
  • Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing or Bachelor of Veterinary Technology qualification.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a Senior Veterinary Nurse capacity.
  • Confidence with developing relationships in a positive manner and working cohesively as a team.
  • A compassionate nature that is motivated by self-improvement and team success.
  • Strong verbal communication with the ability to have respectful, open conversations.
  • Strong written communication skills and confident using the Microsoft Office suite.
