Animal Emergency Australia (AEA) is a network of emergency hospitals, general practices, and education services, dedicated to helping veterinary professionals thrive. Our Animal Emergency Service hospitals are leaders in emergency and critical care, known for delivering gold-standard patient care in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
We’re seeking an experienced Vet Nurse Manager to join our Hobart team on a full-time, 9-month maternity cover and provide strong leadership while continuing hands-on clinical nursing.
This position offers approximately 30 hours per week of dedicated administration and leadership time, with the option to pick up additional clinical nursing shifts. You will:
- Lead, mentor, and support the nursing team day-to-day
- Oversee rostering, workflow, and staffing coordination
- Maintain high clinical and operational standards
- Support team engagement, wellbeing, and professional development
- Assist with recruitment, training, and performance management
- Contribute to policy implementation, WHS compliance, and a positive team culture
About you
- Experienced veterinary nurse with strong leadership and organisational skills
- Confident balancing management responsibilities with hands-on clinical work
- A supportive, approachable leader who values teamwork and high-quality care
- Strong communicator with the ability to manage conflict and drive positive outcomes
- Passionate about team development, patient care, and continuous improvement
- Flexible to work a rotating roster including weekends, nights, and public holidays
