Welcome to AHVEC, Hobart
Nestled just 8 minutes drive from the waterfront, you’ll find AHVEC – the only dedicated after-hours veterinary emergency hospital. If rolling mountain hills and beautiful picturesque scenery are your thing, working at this location is for you.
So much about living in Tasmania is rolled up into the amazing outdoor experiences you’ll get to indulge in every day. From great rock climbing locations that will challenge your strength and mind, to tackling the world’s best mountain bike tracks – adventure will become your middle name.
While you’re having a break from the rocks and the seat of that bike, become a tourist and take a day tour of Bruny Island. View the southernmost lighthouse in Australia, taste a banquet of delicious gourmet food and enjoy some sightseeing and great walks. If that’s not your thing, cruise on the Derwent River and enjoy waterfront attractions such as the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens and Rose Bay. Best of all, take a wander around one of many markets, where you’ll find handcrafted delights and artisan delicacies.
But enough about the location – we know we don’t have to persuade you to come and live in arguably one of Australia’s most liveable (and beautiful) cities! Let’s talk about the team…
Your new team…
Located in Hobart, in our AHVEC hospital, you’ll find some of the most dedicated and passionate pet-people you’ve ever met. Together, Directors Dr Vibeke Russell and Dr Lisa Reynolds have created a unique workplace focused on career growth and development, training and education, and most of all, a place you can call your second home. After all, work is where we spend most of our time second to our family lives – so the team have built a place that truly values each individual team member and is home for their veterinary careers.
Don’t just take our word for it though. AHVEC team members have been known to describe their team mates as people who have a genuine love and passion for animals and their care. Who are down to earth, and always have each other’s best interests at heart to grow and be better at what they do.
You’ll be supported by a management team who truly cares about you, and when you join AHVEC, you’ll fall into place amongst ‘your people’ – you know, those people you meet and it feels like you’ve known them your whole life!
You’ll have access to some of the best diagnostics and tech to help your patients, including blood gas, ultrasound, and critical care ventilators. We have a dedicated intensive care unit, and five vets on our team who have achieved their memberships – so support is never far away.
