Recent updates to some of the VetAPedia clinical guidelines are aimed at helping you provide the best care for your patients.
Feline Aortic Thromboembolism Guidelines
The updated FATE guidelines incorporate advancements in diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. Key updates include:
- NT-proBNP and Diagnostic Imaging: These tools are now recommended to aid in diagnosing underlying cardiac disease in feline patients, enhancing early detection and management.
- Dual Antithrombotic Therapy: A precise dose rate for Rivaroxaban is provided, to be used alongside Clopidogrel for effective antithrombotic therapy.
Acute Kidney Injury Guidelines
Our new AKI guidelines offer comprehensive insights into the diagnosis and management of this critical condition. Highlights include:
- Expanded Causes of AKI: A detailed list of potential etiologies to aid in differential diagnosis.
- IRIS AKI Staging Scheme: Clear guidelines for staging AKI, facilitating appropriate treatment planning.
- Fluid Therapy Management: Specific recommendations for managing fluid therapy in anuric and polyuric patients, with guidance on the judicious use of sodium bicarbonate.
- Dialysis Indications: Clear criteria for when to consider dialysis, ensuring timely intervention.
Both guidelines now feature a ‘snapshot’ summary on the first page, designed for quick reference during clinical practice.
