Are you a passionate and experienced ECC veterinarian looking for your next team? Join AES Hawthorn, where you’ll be part of a supportive, skilled, and dynamic group of professionals in a state-of-the-art emergency and critical care clinic. This is a permanent part-time role contracted between 40–60 hours per fortnight, with the potential for additional hours for the right candidate.
About the Role
At AES Hawthorn, you’ll experience a wide variety of cases and responsibilities — from consulting and surgical work to medical and intensive care. You’ll collaborate with some of the best ECC professionals in the industry, with a strong culture of mentorship and knowledge-sharing.
Our focus is on sustainable emergency medicine and true work-life balance. We achieve this through flexible rostering, 10-hour shifts, and a supportive scheduling team that genuinely looks after your downtime. As a 24-hour hospital, shifts are shared fairly across the full day, with an average of four night shifts per month and a balanced mix of days and evenings.
We’re proud to operate as an open hospital, where clients are welcomed as part of their pet’s medical journey. Strong communication and collaboration are at the heart of everything we do. We believe transparency and empathy are just as important as clinical excellence.
About You
We’re looking for a veterinarian who brings both experience and enthusiasm to the team:
- Ideally 5 years graduated with at least 3 years of ECC experience (preferably from a referral environment, but all applicants considered)
- Solid ECC foundational skills and the ability to manage a wide range of emergency cases
- A Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (or equivalent), recognised in Australia
- Current or eligible registration with the Veterinary Surgeons Board of Victoria
- A collaborative, can-do attitude with strong communication and client management skills.
- A genuine passion for emergency and critical care and a commitment to patient-first medicine
Why Join AES
- Competitive salary packages with great remuneration reflective of your skills and experience
- Work-life balance with flexible rostering and 10-hour shifts
- A supportive and experienced ECC team focused on professional growth and wellbeing
- Employee-owned veterinary group and we value your voice and share our success with our team
- Career progression opportunities, leadership pathways, and ongoing professional development
If you’re ready to take the next step in your ECC career and want to work with a team that values both excellence and balance, we’d love to hear from you.
